Storming the Castle - Part 1

A quiet, preventative move can be the key ingredient to prepare a powerful attack. See how a quiet move prepared GM Harikrishna's brilliant avalanche against GM Nakamura's king. The pawn structure is similar to the famous game Karpov-Gligoric, Leningrad 1973. Suffice to say, Karpov won it much differently than Hariskrishna!

Storming the Castle - Part 2

Coach Keaton has two more kingside attacks for you. One is the traditional opposite-side castling pawn storm. The h-file is ripped open, but White relies on a clever deflection to break through. The second assault on the king comes via a speculative minor piece sacrifice, played by the world number two. While the defense wasn't perfect, you can't argue that While was under pressure. In the end, his pieces are completely paralyzed - would you have captured on f2?

Coach Keaton shares the ideas behind this aggressive opening as well as the hugely-complex attack, in which a quiet move was the key to success!
