I was 4. My father came to me, bent down, looked deep into my eyes, gave me a toy gun (my first one), and told me, “You’re a big boy now; take care of our family.” I didn’t see him for two years. He left for the war. I was six when he returned. (I didn’t recognize him initially due to his beard)He was surprised to see I knew how to play chess. My Grandma had taught me. Long story short, he took me to a chess school. I got badly beaten in my first game, got angry, and started to train… Long story even shorter, I became a Grandmaster at 19. Then crossed 2,600. Then got very close to breaking into the top 100 players in the world. But then… I fell in love. Not with a person. I fell in love with chess coaching. I began assisting and instructing other passionate chess players. When...

I was born in 1960 - the year a young Mikhail Tal became World Champion. After leaving the British junior chess circuit I started working unusual hours and have done ever since. For that reason I had very little chance to play chess as an adult, and instead bought chess books. At least 1000 have passed through my hands, and I have gone over at least 50,000 Master level games. I am fascinated by chess as an evolutionary process, and have been writing about chess history since the days when I had to type up articles on a stencil for a 'duplicating machine'. There is a saying :- 'No-one is entitled to an opinion. Everyone is entitled to an informed opinion. Who would say that they are entitled to ignorance.' Sometimes things that ' everybody knows' are not true. All chess players are my f...

😄 Valeu, pessoal.

My group: Co-Creator and Super Admin/News Reporter of The Official Chess.com/TV Group now simply called Chess.comTV Now, a quote or two: "Chess is art. Chess is sport. But it's also war. You have to master on the order of a hundred thousand different chess ideas and concepts, patterns of pawns and pieces. That takes work. And you're going to lose a lot of games in the process, so you'll have to be able to make your peace with that, which isn't easy. Because there's no luck involved in the game, you have to face the fact that you lost because your opp...
My name is Nikola Nestorović (1989), a Chess Grandmaster and Fide Coach from Belgrade (Serbia), and I have played chess for over 20 years. Photo: Chess Bundesliga, where I played for the chess team from Augsburg. During that time, I accomplished most of my playing career goals. The most important fact is that I became a Grandmaster at the end of 2015 and officially became FIDE Chess Trainer in 2018 with the best Fide rating of 2517. As I was growing up, I realized that I enjoyed teaching, so I decided that I was going to pursue that kind of profession. Photo from Championship of Serbia (2023.), where I was a Chess Coach during the tournament to the GM Aleksandar Indjic, 2595 who won this tournament. My students have different levels of strength, from beginners to Grandmasters - but I...
