My name is JJ, and I am a PhD Candidate in Philosophy at Stanford University, finishing my dissertation remotely in Chicago. After countless years of playing, but not studying, and being stuck in the 1700s (uscf), I decided to take the game more seriously, focusing on dynamic positional play, a stronger opening repertoire, and endgames under the coaching of WGM Adriana Nikolova. I am now rated over 2100 USCF.
I am available for lessons for students of all ages. Particularly, I offer basic opening repertoires and tactical improvement for USCF-rated players under 1200 and improving positional and endgame play for players stuck in the 1400-1700 range.
