So, when did you learn to play chess?
At the age of 4 by my dear grandpa. The good man infected me with the chess virus back in the days.
Were you any good?
Fairly, once qualified for a Dutch national championship at the age of 12. Achieved a stunning 81st place out of 87 contestants. ;p But my trophy cabinet is filled with some silverware from local and regional tournaments and leagues from back then.
Why did you quit then?
Well you know, the age of 16 is an age when chess is not that cool anymore. And playing chess on a thursday night at the local chess club with people 20 to 50 years older than you is far less exciting than playing football and going out with friends.
But......?
I recently discovered this chess.com app on my new shiny Android phone, made an account and now I'm all hooked on chess...... again.......
Like it?
Definitely!
